    Pay TV

Pay TV has become a bit of a rort in Australia over the past few years. The cost of Foxtel is ridiculous these days and with all of the other options you are just throwing money away.

    I currently have:-

    Kayo - $25 per month
    Netflix - $10.99 per month
Optus Sport - free with my Optus phone plan
Amazon Prime - $6.99 per month

I know some people are paying over $100 for Foxtel which is just ridiculous.

What are the PayTv options in the US?

Most of those you have listed are on your phone.
It makes your phone bills too expensive.

You are better off having pay tv at home on one tv at least so that you can go and watch something you want to watch that is ad free.

Free to air tv is mainly ads.
On every channel except for the ABC News channel.

I have foxtel i have it in my bedroom and on my tv in the loungeroom.

It means i can watch tv in bed if i wish to.

The only foxtel app on my phone is foxtel Go.

I only use it if the game i want to see is not on free to air tv and i'm out for the day.

You are better off using your phone for just taking calls and texts.
    Do everything else via computer.

so you mean the streaming services? i don't even know, there's a ton of them these days. i just have netflix and hulu, and i really don't watch either one anymore. i really need to cancel hulu; i'm kind of stuck with netflix because my parents use my account and the pretty much live in front of the tv.

The catch with streaming services is that if you use them on your phone you are stuck with paying for them twice because you have to pay your phone bill plus all the other accounts you have.
if you decided to use only netflix on your laptop or pc you would be fine with it because you only have a smaller price to pay for your internet.
If you got yourself a proper pc you could be watching all of those on your computer. With your internet only being high.

Or get Fetch which is a box you can use that allows you to stream netflix and all the better channels.
My sister in law has that.

I remember a few years ago when i was still living with my parents.
I ended up getting my own credit card.
I had to pay my phone bill and my own credit card bill
Phone bill was paid with my credit card.
Then to make the sting worse i had to pay my credit card off.
So you are better off paying for things via internet banking so that you can keep everything low.

I pay a fixed amount for my phone and internet each month. There are no extra costs.

Also I use the streaming services direct from my TV. Doesn’t have anything to do with my phone.

How much does Foxtel cost you each month?

my phone plan has limited data (although i've never even come close to reaching that limit), but these days i think a majority of plans have unlimited data so it really shouldn't matter how much you stream on there.

of course, it does drain your battery, so then you have to plug in the charger, and phone charger ports are specifically designed to break after being plugged approximately twice so you have no choice but to buy a new phone.

Yep that is correct. If you are streaming you’d want to have an internet plan with unlimited data which the majority do these days.

Still your phone plan will be costing you over $700 at this rate a month.

                    You are missing my point.

You are streaming these on your phone.

                    You are using unlimited data.
                    Unlimited data doesn't include streaming.
Hence why you are paying for more than you should be.

Then the credit card bill comes and you have $800 from your phone bill that you have paid but you need to pay that

It makes you look like an idiot.
Even though you are trying to be smart.

If you look at foxtel you get everything there including netflix, internet, and paytv.

Kayo is also run by foxtel.

Netflix asks people to download and buy stuff.

You don't need to pay for things seperately to have all the things you want.

I only pay $80 for foxtel.

It could be more but i choose to watch foxtel only on tv.

I don't have kayo because kayo is a piss take of foxtel go which is the same thing.

You think anything over $40 for internet is expensive.

It's not. It's just better than the cheap crap you have that sounds like it's a pre-paid boring shit.

As I said earlier in this thread I stream through my TV, not my phone. Unlimited data includes streaming. I pay $40 per month for my internet. That is it. No other costs.

I have never had anything close to an $800 phone bill as I have unlimited data and calls and messages on that as well. I only stream from my wifi at home.

No offence mate but I don’t think you have any idea what you are talking about in regards to this subject.

Kayo are actually now offering a free service for selected events like Supercars Mt Panorama and some soccer matches coming up. Great initiative for people who don’t want to spend money on this stuff.

Amazon Prime is the best Streaming Service at the moment. So much variety and has an awesome back catalogue of vintage movies and TV shows.
